Fountain of the Sun
Master Plan

In May 2018, Fountain of the Sun held a special "FOSCA Master Plan Presentation" meeting in the FOS community center.

At that meeting, many residents and members of the FOS community expressed feedback and comments, both pro and con, to the substance of that Master Plan Presentation.

On the official FOS website, there is a specific page dedicated to this topic, including the following notice:

"Forward your questions or comments
regarding the Master Plan to:
masterplan@fos-az.com "

Regrettably, in the five months since that meeting was held and that invitation to submit comments was posted, as of October 2018, there has apparently been only one published comment pertaining to the masterplan and no published response to that or to any other comments that may have been submitted.

Surely there must have been more than only one single comment submitted on this important subject. So where are all those comments?

The objective of this independent FOS-Forum.com website is to encourage and facilitate more open communication and a more transparent presentation of all FOS community members feedback and comments and responses to them.

On the official FOS website opening page, there has been only one posted comment pertaining to the proposed masterplan. That comment makes some excellent points, so it is quoted below. (Very slightly edited for clarity with no change to the original writer's message)

I feel the F.O.S. 2018 master plan is way over [the] moon cost wise. When many of us bought our homes here, we knew what was available for our use. Our assessments keep rising, but our retirement checks do not. With all the other costs of living going up, we sort hope we can keep our old life style.

Some people want everything in the world, and many are spending more than they ever had, looking for others to pay for their fun.

Since F.O.S. was created, there have been many mistakes made. Like having a fund created to replace or update current buildings and other things like the pool, exercise equipment, and updating the kitchen area. If you bought a home next to a water retention area for the extra space between you and your neighbors, would you want someone coming in and adding the noise of games and traffic in that area? Most of us want things kept like it was when [we] bought our homes!

Yes, there isn't a tennis court. We knew that when we bought our homes. If we wanted a tennis court, buy somewhere where they already had one. A lot of the year it is too hot to play tennis and it is not cost effective to have it where something else might better fit.

Electric gates break down, power goes out, and guest/workers come. We still need someone to check them in, or our security is [not] worth anything!

I know there are people living in F.O.S. that are behind on assessments. Tell me how we can make it still be the community they bought into years ago? Just to make later buyers feel you need all the things the world has for your enjoyment.

I've been here in F.O.S. for 26 years and hope to live my life out in this great place. When we brought our home 26 years ago, we looked at the cost of security [and it] was about $25.00 a month. Yes, I know security costs have risen. This we have to live with if we want a secure park.

Hearing comments like this, it would be hoped that this free forum will encourage others to comment on this and other important subjects . . . and that it will encourage FOS leadership to provide thoughtful and timely responses to  ALL  member's questions and feedback-comments so that it can all to be published here for everyone in the FOS community to be able to see it all.

The objective is to encourage more open and transparent communication in order to seek better understanding and greater consensus going forward.
